Due to IDH’s issuance of updated Infection Control Standard Operating Procedures increased demand for isolation gowns, N95 (or approved KN95) masks, surgical masks, and gloves is likely.  IHCA has the following recommendations and resources:

  1. Ensure that you reach out to your existing PPE vendors and document all efforts to obtain adequate supplies of isolation gowns, N95 (or approved KN95) masks, surgical masks, and gloves.  Keep all communications, invoices, and other related paperwork for regulatory compliance and survey investigations.
  2. Update your PPE status in EMResources daily, or at least when supply chain appears to be weak – this is the main way IDH will be able to check on your PPE status and provide you PPE if supplies are low and not likely to come through your normal supply chain.  Also continue to update NHSN with this information on your normal NHSN reporting schedule (necessary for compliance and federal visibility into your PPE stocks).
  3. Reach out to your local health department and hospital system(s) for assistance if supplies are low or are not forthcoming from the supply chain.
  4. Update the ICS 213 RR form and send to isdhdeplogistics@isdh.in.gov
