For the upcoming flue season, it will be important to have your vaccination program well planned.  A flu vaccine has many benefits and can help reduce the impact of respiratory illness and lesson the resulting burden on the healthcare system and workforce infrastructure during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Recommended Action:

  • Review CDC Interim Guidance for Immunization Services During the COVID-19 Pandemic
  • Take inventory of supplies that will be needed and order accordingly – (PPE, syringes, vaccines)
  • Determine procedure for giving vaccines while keeping in mind infection control best practices.
  • Include the medical Director in determining protocol for giving a vaccine to someone with suspected or confirmed COVID-19.
  • Start planning now for a successful vaccination program for your residents and staff.
