On July 31, 2020, the U.S. Department of Health and Humans Services (HHS) announced that the application deadline for the Medicaid Tranche of the CARES Act Provider Relief Fund has been extended to Friday, August 28, 2020 at 11:59 PM ET.  The previous extended deadline was Monday, August 3, 2020.  Please note, the deadline for the Medicaid Tranche of the CARES Act Provider Relief Fund is distinct from the request for private-pay assisted living providers to submit data through this Portal by Monday, August 3, 2020 at 5 PM ET, which will potentially lead to a separate Tranche at a later date.

HHS has also clarified that applications for the Medicaid Tranche do not have to be fully completed by midnight on August 28, but Medicaid providers must have submitted their Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) for validation through HHS’s Provider Relief Fund Payment Portal by the August 28 deadline.  Even if the TIN validation occurs after that date, Medicaid providers will still be able to complete and submit their application as long as they requested validation by August 28.

As a reminder, the Medicaid Tranche is available to Aged & Disabled Waiver assisted living providers that have lost revenue or experienced increased expenses as a result of COVID-19 and otherwise meet the eligibility requirements.  The application for the Medicaid Tranche can be found here, and HHS’s instructions for Medicaid providers submitting an application can be found here.  For IHCA/INCAL’s original summary on this available funding, including eligibility criteria and tips on the application process, please click here.
