The AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Program is a rigorous three-level process that evaluates long term care organizations capabilities against nationally recognized standards for excellence, making it one of the most comprehensive and cost-effective performance assessments available to providers.
Member centers may apply for three progressive levels of awards: Bronze—Commitment to Quality, Silver—Achievement in Quality, or Gold—Excellence in Quality. Each level has its own distinct rigors and requirements for quality and performance excellence.
The first step in the AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Program is the Bronze – Commitment to Quality Award.
The second step in the AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Program is the Silver – Achievement in Quality Award.
The final step in the AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Program is the Gold – Excellence in Quality Award.
The Indiana Health Care Association/Indiana Center for Assisted Living is pleased to congratulate its 59 member communities across the state for setting an Indiana record in receiving the most National Quality Awards in the program’s history. Additionally, Indiana long term care facilities received the most Bronze Quality Awards in the nation.

IHCA/INCAL is excited to host a Gold, Silver and Bronze Quality Award virtual workshops to help our members better understand the application criteria, scoring, and strategies for a successful 2024 application submission.
When an applicant becomes an award recipient, the terms and conditions of the renewal policy must be met in order to maintain active recipient status. Active recipients are considered to be performing at a level appropriate to their award designation and maintaining continuous quality improvement within their organization. The conditions to be an active recipient are outlined by award level here.
