Indiana Medicaid Updates HIP to Fee for Service (FFS) Transition Policy

After several years of IHCA discussion with OMPP about the gap in coverage for SNF residents transitioning from HIP to FFS, OMPP has updated its policy to allow for more coverage.  Beginning with dates of admission on or after October 1, 2019, the updated policy will allow retroactive coverage back to the first of the month following the SNF report of admission to the Division of Aging and the DFR.  Please read the Bulletin carefully as there are specific steps a SNF must take within certain timeframes in order for the FFS coverage to become retroactive.
