    About This Event

    This virtual seminar will focus on exploring the three domains of the CMS 5 Star Quality Rating System: Health Inspections, Staffing, and Quality Measures. You will learn how the health inspection, staffing, quality measure, and overall rating is calculated. Tips on how to analyze your data and develop plans to achieve 5-Star status will be discussed, along with application of the elements of QAPI to improve facility 5-Star Ratings.

    Learning Objectives: 
    1. Understand the three domains of the 5-Star Rating System.
    2. Understand how each component is calculated and the impact on the overall 5-Star Rating
    3. Acquire knowledge to implement best practices for 5-Star improvement

    Shelly Maffia MSN, MBA, RN, LNHA, QCP, CHC, CPC, CLNC

    Director of Regulatory Services, Proactive LTC Consulting

    Shelly is a Registered Nurse and Nursing Home Administrator with experience serving as Director of Nursing, Administrator, and as a multi-site Corporate Nurse Consultant. She holds AANAC’s QAPI Certified Professional (QCP) credential. She is a member of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) and earned a Certificate in Infection Prevention in Long-Term Care. She is a skilled coder and an AHIMA approved ICD-10 trainer. Shelly specializes in not only identifying SNF regulatory compliance risks, but in supporting SNF leadership in implementing the practical, real life solutions that drive performance improvement and quality outcomes.
