Residential Citation Update

The Indiana State Department of Health conducted a total of six recertification surveys and of those, one (1%) were found to be deficiency-free.  There were a total of 5 Offense tags cited, 32 Deficiency tags cited for a total of 37 residential tags for the month of April.

The citations are as follows:

Tag 273 (8 times) – Food and Nutritional Services for failure to ensure all food preparation and serving areas are maintained in accordance with state and local sanitation and safe food handling standards, including 410 IAC 7-24

Tag 241 (4 times) – Health Services Offense for failure to ensure administration of medications and the provision of residential nursing care is as ordered by the physician and supervised by a licensed nurse on the premises or on call as follows:  (1) Medication to be administered  by licensed nursing personnel or qualified medication aides.

Tag 298 (3 times) – Pharmaceutical Services Deficiency for failure to ensure a consultant pharmacist is employed, or under contract and responsible for the duties specified in 856 IAC 1-7.

  • Review the drug handling and storage practices in the facility;
  • Provide consultation on methods and procedures of ordering, storing, administering, and disposing of drugs as well as medication record keeping;
  • Report, in writing, to the administrator or his or her designee and irregularities in dispensing or administration of drugs; and
  • Review the drug regimen of each resident receiving these services at least once every sixty (60) days.
