The Governor’s Workforce Cabinet announced details of the “Rapid Recovery for a Better Future” initiative in response to COVID-19. $50m in CARES Act funding is being used for increasing Workforce Ready Grants and CNAs were added to the short-term education and training categories so that individuals can directly access training funds. Before this announcement, CNA training support was limited to Employer Training Grants.
The Next Level Jobs website has been updated to include CNA programs through Ivy Tech and Vincennes in the Workforce Ready Grant program, which individuals can access directly, rather than going through an employer. Please note that at this time an individual can only pursue one qualifying certificate or degree at this time. This means that if an individual uses the WRG for CNA they cannot later obtain a WRG for LPN or some other certification.
