On November 18, 2020, Indiana announced the Students Step Up 2 Serve initiative, which will be aimed at encouraging college students returning home for holiday breaks and/or virtual learning to participate in the state’s COVID-19 response.  Assigned tasks may include serving as substitute teachers, registering individuals for COVID testing, and helping with contact tracing.  The state is also exploring whether these students can be of assistance to long-term care facilities.  Interested students should sign up here.

Long-term care facilities requiring additional workforce assistance should continue to use the Indiana COVID-19 Reserve Workforce Needs Request Form.  The state will assign both health care professionals and students who sign up for the Students Step Up 2 Serve initiative through the Reserve Workforce Needs Request Form.  There will not be a separate request process.

Further, long-term care facilities that utilized the Reserve Workforce Needs Request Form earlier in the pandemic and who are still in need of workforce assistance are encouraged to submit the form once again as soon as possible, as the reserve workforce is currently undergoing a renewed effort
