On Friday afternoon, NHSN sent an email to users regarding updates to the Resident Impact & Facility Capacity and Staff & Personnel Impact reporting pathways. The NHSN message said that these updates will go into effect on Monday November 23, 2020. (Click on the links for revised CSV templates for facilities and groups, and a summary of significant modification).
These changes are not insignificant and will require time to complete. In consultation with AHCA, effort will be made to ensure that CMS exercises enforcement discretion as these changes cannot be simply made in 2 days’ time.
We advise members to make a good faith effort and document their efforts to make the NSHN changes in the coming two weeks, but not worry if they can’t get all the changes in place by Monday. Keep records of attending the trainings, internal meetings, changes in forms/processes, etc. that are performed while making the changes. It is not recommended to reduce patient care activities to try and meet the changes as soon as they are required on Monday the 23rd.
