4.2% Medicaid Nursing Facility Rate Increase Extended

OMPP  recently announced that nursing facilities completing CMS’s Targeted COVID-19 Training for Frontline Nursing Home Staff and Management will receive an extension of the current 4.2% temporary rate enhancement through November 30, 2020.  The 4.2% rate enhancement will end on October 31.2020 for facilities that do not complete the training.  The requirements for receiving the extension are below:

• The training consists of five modules designed for frontline clinical staff and ten designed for nursing home management and is available on the CMS Quality, Safety & Education Portal.  The training must be completed by November 30, 2020.
• Nursing facilities must complete and submit an attestation to the State by November 30, 2020.

IHCA/INCAL has continually communicated concern to OMPP regarding the fiscal impact of the pandemic on the long term care sector and is pleased with the extension opportunity.  As a reminder, the 2% increase for COVID-Ready buildings and the $115 add-on for COVID-19 positive patients in those buildings ended on August 31, 2020.
