[May 3, 2020] Effective Date of CMS Interim Final Rule on COVID-19 Reporting for Nursing Homes

CMS has reported to AHCA that the interim final rule, which implements new reporting requirements for nursing homes, a summary of which can be found here, was effective as of May 1, 2020.  CMS’s intention is that the first of the weekly reports to the CDC in the NHSN COVID-19 module are to be submitted by May 8, 2020.  AHCA is advocating that there be a grace period for enforcement of this rule given the lack of clarity on the notifications to residents and their representatives, as well as the technical complexities and quantity of information that must be submitted.  IHCA/INCAL will keep you updated as further clarifications on this federal rule are issued.

To be fully prepared for the NHSN reporting requirement please participate in two NSHN webinars set for May 4 and May 5:
