On February 10, 2021, the Indiana Department of Health (IDH) announced the long-term care ombudsmen will resume visitation in mid-to-late February 2021, following the vaccination of the ombudsmen. Visitation has been encouraged to begin with those residents whom the ombudsmen have been unable to connect via phone or video.
The ombudsmen have been trained on infection control practices, including wearing appropriate PPE, and the ombudsmen will provide proof of their COVID-19 vaccination. The ombudsman will obtain visitation protocols from each long-term care facility prior to visiting, in addition to checking the IDH’s LTC Data Dashboard for facility-level data prior to the visit.
