The Indiana State Department of Health has developed health workforce related resources that are available to all long term care providers should an urgent or emergency need for additional workers arise.

The Bowen Center for Health Workforce Research and Policy at Indiana University is partnering with the Indiana State Department of Health to manage the Indiana Health Care Reserve Workforce.  In early April, long term care providers should have received a customized list of health care reservists that indicated willingness to serve at your facility.

Since April, the Bowen Center has maintained communications with and monitored the availability of Indiana Health Care Reserve Workforce members.  On October 12, a communication was sent asking Reservists their updated availability to serve in Acute Care Hospitals. As of October 16, 577 Indiana licensed heath care professionals that report being immediately available to serve in long term care facilities.

Should your facility require additional health care workers, a request can be submitted through the Indiana Healthcare Workforce Needs Request Form that is hosted on the State coronavirus homepage.  All submissions are responded to within 24 hours, and include a list of reserve workforce members available within the local community.
