As part of the State’s Next Level Jobs initiative, employers in any high demand business sector can be reimbursed up to $5,000 for each newly trained employee, hired and retained for six months. There is a $50,000 cap for each employer (based on your FEIN) and the jobs must be middle skill, high-demand and high-wage jobs. Employer Training Grants cover occupational skills training, and also include not only new employees but existing employees who receive training that leads to increased work responsibilities and higher wages.

The new round of Employer Training Grants will begin accepting new applications effective July 1, 2019.

  • Employers who have never applied for an Employer Training Grant may apply on the Next Level Jobs website on/after July 8.
  • Employers who received grant agreements but did not train/retain/receive reimbursement and employers who were reimbursed for training during round 2 of the funding (which expires June 30, 2019) are eligible. No new application on the Next Level Jobs website is required—and employers who have already applied may simply submit a proposed training plan for approval directly to their DWD contact from round 2 after 7/1/2019.
  • New Employer Training Grant agreements will be issued after 7/1/2019 and all agreements will expire 10 months after they are signed/go into effect (a change from the 2018-2019 round).
  • Employers can use training providers on DWD’s eligible training provider list or third party providers. The training plan must verify that it’s occupational skills training, aligns to an approved middle skills occupation, and is greater than 40 hours. Click here for a complete list of eligible occupations.

IHCA/INCAL members are encouraged to apply as soon as possible to enroll in the Employer Training Grant program.
