As IHCA/INCAL previously reported, the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) made Civil Monetary Penalty (CMP) Reinvestment funds available to provide nursing facilities with adaptive communicative technologies for virtual social and telehealth visits for residents.

On July 22, 2020, the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) announced that the Phase 1 applications for this CMP COVID-19 Communicative Technology Project have been approved, providing funds to a total of 231 nursing facilities.  Nursing facilities will be notified via email if they have been approved, and funds will be sent to the designated contact identified on the application.  Funds will be sent from CMP COVID-19 Communicative Technology Fund.  ISDH also announced that Phase 2 applications are in the final approval process.

Facilities that did not apply for or receive funding in Phase 1 or Phase 2 are encouraged to apply in Phase 3.  Interested nursing facilities should fill out the following CMP COVID-19 Communicative Technology Request, which includes information on allowable communicative technology expenses, and email the completed application to Nancy Adams at nadams1@isdh.in.gov.  A deadline for Phase 3 applications has not been issued at this time, but we encourage interested nursing facilities to submit their completed application as soon as possible.  ISDH’s contract with CMS to issue these CMP funds is currently scheduled to end on December 31, 2020.
