On of September 1, 2020, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced that the federal government plans to ship rapid, antigen COVID-19 tests to assisted living communities across the country.  The tests will come from a supply of 150 million tests ordered from Abbott Laboratories and are expected to be delivered in the coming two (2) to three (3) weeks.  Abbott’s rapid, antigen tests do not require specialty computer equipment to process the results and deliver results in approximately 15 minutes.

We will provide further updates as any additional details emerge.  The exact shipment schedule is unknown at this time.   We will also keep you updated when the Indiana State Department of Health issues further guidance on the usage and reporting of these tests.
