Quality Initiatives Resources
The AHCA/NCAL Quality Initiative is a national, multi-year effort to further improve quality of care in America’s long term and post-acute care centers. The Five-Star Quality Rating System is a tool to help consumers select and compare skilled nursing care centers. Created by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in 2008, the rating system uses information from Health Care Surveys (both standard and complaint), Quality Measures, and Staffing. CMS’s Nursing Home Compare website features the rating system.

Long Term Care Trend Tracker
LTC Trend Trackersm is a web-based tool that enables long term and post-acute care providers, including assisted living, to access key information that can help their organization succeed. This exclusive benefit for AHCA/NCAL members, allows skilled nursing and assisted living organizations to benchmark personal metrics to those of their peers and examine ongoing quality improvement efforts. LTC Trend Tracker is AHCA/NCAL members’ one-stop-shop to gain timely information and valuable insight about their own performance as well as that of the entire profession.
GERO Nurse Prep
Gero Nurse Prep is a comprehensive program through AHCA/NCAL that prepares RNs who care for elders to attain board certification in Gerontological Nursing (RN-BC) by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
