Mastering the Art & Science of Dementia Care: A Workshop
Most team members in long-term care settings serve people living with dementia to one degree or another, but few are aware of the latest dementia research and how to leverage it for optimal results. This comprehensive all-day workshop helps participants move their skills to a new level by taking a deep dive into the two areas that make the biggest difference: great interpersonal technique and an understanding of the factors that drive cognitive decline. When we communicate better and help those we are serving function better, we can often prevent negative behavioral expressions, reduce antipsychotic usage, boost physical capacity, and improve quality of life. The course also explores leadership tools to help attendees take what they learn back to their teams and implement it.
Participants will learn:
Who Should Attend: social services, activities, nurses, therapists, housekeeping, ALL STAFF that work on a memory care unit
Agenda: 8:30am-4:30pm EST (Registration/breakfast starts at 8:00am, lunch provided)
Location: Renaissance Indianapolis North, 11925 N. Meridian St., Carmel IN
