About This Event

For almost three years, we have lived and worked in a pandemic. Exhaustion, frustration, fear, grief, and uncertainty have dominated many of our lives. Further compounding the distress and conflict is our social conditioning to argue, defend, and judge ourselves and one other. We are experiencing an empathy deficit that is affecting the workplace culture. Let’s change that. This session teaches Nonviolent Communication skills and gives participants strategies they can use immediately to increase their capacity for empathic listening and communicating.

Objectives:

  • Describe how an empathic connection allows us to have compassion for ourselves and another person, even if we disagree.
  • Explain the key principle that everything people do or say is an attempt to meet their needs.
  • Experiment with transforming a judgment into a non-judgmental expression.

Target Audience: Skilled nursing and assisted living leadership, Human Resources, Department Directors, Staff Development/Inservice Directors, Social Services and Nurse Managers
