Eric has more than ten years of Indiana state government experience, including stints at the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH), and the former Division of Family and Children (DFC). At ISDH, he was the Administrative Director for Maternal and Child Health and oversaw the Children’s Special Health Care program, a third party payer for children with special needs.

As both a local and state administrator at DFC, Eric played key roles in Indiana’s implementation of such landmark initiatives as the Welfare Reform Act of 1996, and the Adoption and Safe Families Act of 1997. He earned the DFC Director's Award of Excellence in 1998 as Indiana's County Welfare Director of the Year, and later served as a DFC Deputy Division Director.

A 1994 Indiana University School of Law graduate and former Governor's Fellow, Eric also worked two years as a Senior Healthcare Policy and Reimbursement Analyst for the accounting firm of Myers and Stauffer. He is a past Chairman of the Morgan County Step Ahead Council, and served on Indiana’s Kids First Board for 2001-2002.
