WHAT IS THE IHCA PAC?
The purpose of the IHCA PAC is to provide financial contributions to the election campaigns for statewide candidates, promote health care friendly public policy, and advocate on behalf of IHCA members in the public policy process. Supporting political candidates provides IHCA members and staff with critical access to current and future policy makers. The IHCA PAC works to help make the voices of IHCA members heard and encourages members to become involved in the political process.
WHY SUPPORT THE IHCA PAC?
Supporting the IHCA PAC allows you as a member of IHCA an opportunity to contribute to your own success.
Contributions are used to support state candidates who understand the long-term care profession’s priority issues – Staff Retention and Recruitment: You Can’t Do Long Term Care with Short Term Staff, Objective Regulatory Oversight: Zip Code Should Not be the Best Predictor of Survey Results, and Fair and Timely Reimbursement: Separate How Much and How.
By pooling our contributions across the state, we can make the voice of our industry in Indiana even stronger. The IHCA PAC sends a powerful message of unity on behalf of the health care community.
YOUR VOICE COUNTS
Policy-makers need to hear from the health care community. Our members play a vital role in establishing and maintaining relationships with officeholders who will vote in our best interests. It is your voice that matters, your voice that changes opinions, and your voice that moves legislators to support our industry. Legislators consider you their experts in the field and IHCA depends on you as part of our lobbying efforts to educate lawmakers on the issues you face everyday.
Remember, the actions you take to involve yourself in politics will translate directly into the decisions our lawmakers make. Several ways to make your voice heard include:
Talking to your staff about public policy issues;
Volunteering to work on a candidate's campaign;
Writing letters and making phone calls to legislators;
Testifying on pertinent legislation; and
Forming a personal relationship with your elected officials and inviting them to your facility.
It’s your voice that counts!
