Social Service Designee Course of Study
The Social Service Designee course sponsored by Indiana Health Care Association and developed/owned/provided by Success Development, Inc., provides the basic knowledge to fulfill the role of a Social Service Designee. Attendees – upon successful completion of the 48-hour course – will receive a certificate to fulfill requirements defined in the state regulations for nursing facilities/long-term care facilities.
Course content includes:
- Resident Care and Rights
- Family Care
- History of Health Facilities
- Sales and Marketing and the Social Service Designee
- Finances Overview
- Survey Process Overview
- Acts, Laws, Regulations, Codes, Rules
Upon successful completion of the course – attendees will be certified to:
- Serve as an advocate for each resident.
- Serve as the Social Service Designee in a nursing facility – under 121 beds.
- Serve as a Social Service Designee in a nursing facility – over 120 beds under the supervision of a Social Worker.
- Coordinate the services needed to attain or maintain the highest practical physical, psychological and psychosocial well-being for each resident.
- Participate in the care team and utilize internal and external resources to identify and secure appropriate resident services.
- Schedule and maintain appropriate resident interaction with the social Service Designee.
