QMA Inservice Training for Certification Renewal
The following training meets the Indiana State Department of Health’s required annual six (6) hours of in-service training to RENEW your Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) certification each year. For insulin administration certified QMAs, one (1) additional hour of in-service training directly related to insulin administration must also be completed each year.
Indiana Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) must complete the required six (6) hours of annual in-service training to renew QMA certification each year.
Only in-services related to medication, medication administration, QMA Scope of Practice and insulin administration apply.
- QMA must obtain six (6) hours of medication related in-service education each year. QMAs are randomly audited on their in-service hours.
- QMA must work administering medications at least 8 hours in the last 12 months.
The following bundle of courses include a total of eight (8) hours of training plus an additional one (1) hour of training for insulin administration certified QMA’s. To successfully meet the annual QMA training requirement you may select courses to total 6 hours of training. If you are an insulin certified QMA, then the Insulin Administration course should also be completed.

CNA205- Shingles: Etiology, Prevention and Medications (1.0 HR)
CNA206- Aggressive Behaviors in the Elderly: Understanding the Behaviors and How Medications Impact Etiology and Treatment (1.0 HR)
NUR178- Fighting to Breather-COPD Medications (1.0 HR)
REG124- Antibiotic Stewardship (1.0 HR)
REG134 – Indiana QMA Insulin Administration Education (1.0 HR)
