Representing a broad range of assisted living facilities in Indiana, INCAL includes a diverse mix of different ownership structures, sizes, scopes, locations and service arrays. INCAL provides information, education, consultation and advocacy to members, including regulatory guidance on all of the issues of interest to assisted living and residential care providers throughout the state.

INCAL members are entitled to receive full IHCA membership services, as well as the services of the American Health Care Association (AHCA) and its assisted living partner, the National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL).

INCAL WORK AGGRESSIVELY TO PURSUE FOUR MAIN PRIORITIES:

1) To provide thought leadership on assisted living issues in light of trends in the long term care industry;

2) To monitor and influence legislation and rulemaking associated with assisted living;

3) To provide ongoing information and education on regulation that affects members; and

4) To collaborate closely with AHCA-NCAL, and to utilize national resources to benefit INCAL members.

INCAL is currently one of ten “Tier 1” state affiliates designated by NCAL to receive additional national support in a variety of member service areas.

Assisted living is a long-term care alternative for seniors who need more assistance than is available in a retirement community, but who do not require the heavy medical care and attention provided in a nursing facility. Individuals in assisted living facilities receive, as needed, supervision, personal assistance and health care services in a way that promotes maximum independence.

The Indiana Center for Assisted Living (INCAL) was established by the Indiana Health Care Association (IHCA) in 1998. INCAL is a locally-organized association for assisted living facilities in Indiana, representing a broad range of non-profit, for profit, private and public assisted living facilities.

When joining INCAL, members are entitled to receive full IHCA membership services. All INCAL members utilize IHCA’s administrative functions and staff, including the lobby team.
